When things start to feel too dissociated, it’s time to reflect and figure out how to balance your spiritual and material obligations, and better yet, how to harmonize the two to really make Islam your life. Join us for a lecture by AbdelRahman Murphy on how to bring balance into your life and make the tightrope into a wider path.

Refreshments will be served.

Monday nights at 8:00pm, Obaidullah Ahmad, a Stony Brook alum, will be teaching a class on the Seerah, or the life/biography of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The current location is the prayer room, Union 248 (subject to change).

Tuesdays at 4:00pm, a sisters halaqa led by Reem Zohny, Hamna Zafar, Naila Kabiraj, and Sumaiya Iqbal will be held in the lounge by the sisters’ room (walk down the hallway where the prayer room is, turn the corner and it’s on your right). The topic is up to those in attendance; our goal is to bring sisters together to learn more about our religion and simply spend time in remembrance of Allah.

Rasulullah SalAllahu Alayhi wa Sallam said, “Fasting the day of ‘Arafah I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year before it and the year after it, and fasting the day of ‘Ashoora’ I hope Allaah will expiate thereby for the year that came before it.” Narrated by Muslim, 1162

Fasting on the day before (9th of Muharram) and the day of ‘Ashoora (the 10th of Muharram) was a practice of Rasulullah, SalAllahu ‘Alayhi wa Sallam, (The Messenger of Allah, Peace Be upon him) that has immense reward!. In light of such days of fasting, we will, inshaAllah be providing Iftar, tomorrow in the Prayer Room. Come on down a share a free meal with the people you love!

Time: 4:25pm
